Why do winter and fall get all the cozy items? Summer can be cozy too! Whether you’re heading to the pool, taking a walk in nature, or setting off on some other adventure, we want to make sure you’re ready for a cozy summer season.
Introduction
Typically, when I say “cozy season,” the first thing you think of is the fall or winter months. While I love to stay indoors and hunker down with a book, we all need a little outside time as well. Summer outings in 2025 deserve cozy essentials just as much as fall and winter do. If you’re going to get some sun this summer, let’s go over the 10 summer comfort essentials to make sure you have a cozy season!
1. Kindle / E-reader or Book: Your adventure buddy!

I don’t leave my house without one. The number one thing on my “do not leave at home” list should be keys or a phone. But no—it’s a book. I always have one with me, whether it’s on my phone, my Kindle, or a physical copy.
Don’t forget the new Kindle Color Soft!
Since we’re spending time in that summer sun, I recommend an anti-glare e-reader or even a traditional book😱. Just keep in mind where you’re going. If you’re headed to the pool, remember to use a waterproof e-reader or a waterproof case!
I love reading a good book in new spots. Sometimes the environment can change the entire vibe of the story. A beach read hits differently on sandy shores, and a fantasy romance under a whimsical tree? Chef’s kiss.
If you need some book suggestions check out some of our books reviews! (Like this summer adventure read or this cozy mystery series!)
2. The Perfect Chair Blanket (Optional: Chair Clips)
Whether it’s lounging by the pool or sprawling out in the grass, you need a blanket—or at least a towel. I love nature, but sitting in the grass always irritates me, and pool chairs are rarely comfortable.

My go-to is this Pokémon towel my boyfriend bought me last year. It’s my favorite! I found a similar one [here] if you want to be cool. 😉
Another popular option? Turkish blanket towels. I haven’t tried them myself, but they’re high on my list. Here’s one I think looks nice!
Optional but life-changing: chair clips. They’re super affordable and they keep your towel from slipping off the chair or flapping around in the breeze. If you don’t use chairs, you probably don’t need them—but if you do? Highly recommend.
3. Open-Ear Bluetooth Headphones for Safe Escapes
This one is non-negotiable for many people. Lots of my friends won’t leave home without their Bluetooth earbuds. As an introvert who loves to escape, I get it.
That said, safety is important. Noise-canceling headphones are great, but they can make us unaware of our surroundings. Open-ear headphones are the best solution I’ve found. I like [these]!
I can listen to music or a podcast during my walks and still hear if someone’s behind me or calling out. They’re comfortable and make me feel safe—what’s cozier than that?
4. Sunscreen
Another must-have for me. I know not everyone uses? sunscreen, but the sun is HOT. It can burn and damage your skin (damaged skin is not bonita). I’ve never considered a bad sunburn cozy—and for most of us, it’s the worst part of summer.
When it comes to wellness products, I can’t say what’s best for everyone, but I can share what I like. I recently started using a mineral sunscreen by Mad Hippie, and so far, I really like it.
Ultimately, it’s about what works best for you—but please, don’t skip it.
5. The Perfect Tote Bag
This one… I’m still searching for. The “perfect” bag has the right size, the right number of pockets, and the right look—and I haven’t found it yet. (If you have, drop it in the comments!)
Think about what you need:
- Do you need to carry your whole bedroom?
- Just the essentials?
- Are you more into backpacks, crossbodies, or fanny packs?
Once you find the right one for you, come tell me. I’m always looking.
6. A Cool and Funky Water Bottle
Okay, maybe it doesn’t have to be cool and funky, but it helps. A good water bottle is essential in the summer heat. Nothing makes me feel worse than being dehydrated.

Everyone loves their Stanley cups, and I think they’re great! I’m on a babe on a budget, so I use [this one]—and for long walking days, I like [this one].
Decorate it with stickers, if that’s your thing. If you have to drink water all day, you might as well make it cute. Bonus: I love [these] little straw toppers too.
7. A Portable Phone Battery or Charger
Not essential for short outings, but if you’re out for the whole day? Bring one. Sure, we can live without our phones—but do we really want to?
I grabbed a cheap stick charger from Target and toss it in my bag. Easy, convenient, cozy peace of mind.
8. A Portable Mister or Fan
This is new to my summer must-have list. I never saw myself as the kind of person to walk around with a portable mister or fan. I always pictured those amusement park toys from childhood.
But as I approach my 30s, I realize comfort > looking a little silly. I’ve been spending more time outdoors, and this little addition makes a huge difference.
PLUS—I found the cutest pink cat-shaped one on Amazon. It just came in yesterday, so I haven’t tried it yet, but maybe it deserves its own review later.
9. Snacks (Yup, just snacks)
Come on… it’s not cozy session without snacks.
10. Your Keys to Get Back Home
Maybe this one’s a given. It’s great to get out, soak up some sun, see friends, and explore something new. But as a (maybe) introvert who just wants to be comfortable in bed… it’s always nice to know I can get back to my cozy space whenever I want.
Final Thoughts
Summer outings can be just as comfortable and cozy as fall and winter ones. It might not be the season where we at the Cozy Cat Club thrive, but it doesn’t have to be miserable either.
Plus—they say fresh air is good for you.
Stay cozy and safe this summer, Cozy Cats! 🐾
